Vivienne Martin is a textile designer based in Galway and a recent graduate of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. Vivienne is currently exhibiting in the “Generation” exhibition at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny and she will also be taking part in the Contemporary Textile Art Fair in London next year. Her recent body of work consists of jewellery pieces where she uses materials such as nylon, horsehair and non-precious fine wire to create visually stunning and tactile neckpieces, bracelets, rings and brooches.
Vivienne is also one of the artists involved in the Groundworks Studio in Galway. A new enterprise that will give recent graduates and emerging artists and designers the opportunity to create, produce and promote their work.
The new studio will have space for up to twenty individual artists and designers with workshops for print, weave and ceramic disciplines. To mark the opening of the Studio there will be an exhibition of work from Friday 11th December at 4 pm which will run until the 13th December at the Groundworks Studio, Lyrr Buildings, Mervue Business Park, Galway.
