The Solo Show starts 2010 with a newly formed Residency Program dedicated to supporting & inspiring emerging artists. They are on the hunt for the next generation of great artists from around the world.

Are you the next Solo Show Legend?

The 2010 Winter Solo Show is a juried international art competition for dynamic, inventive and provocative work of all mediums: sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, illustration, installation, graphic design, video and more!

The Selected Artist will receive:

• $5,000 cash grant
• Solo exhibition in 3rd Ward’s gallery, complete with a massive opening reception
• Optional 3-month residency at 3rd Ward including private live/work studio & full facility access (photo studios, wood & metal shop, media lab, classes)
• Airfare & shipping to and from 3rd Ward for non-NYC residents
• 2-page spread in 3rd Ward’s Quarterly Magazine
• NYC exposure – postcards, fliers, press!

PLUS! The top 25 artists will be featured in 3rd Ward’s Quarterly Magazine and website.

Judging panel includes:

Carol Lee, Arts Editor at Paper Magazine, Dan Deacon, Sound Artist & Electro-acoustic Wizard, Rostarr, NYC Artist and Paolo Salvagione, Lead Design Engineer, The Long Now Foundation, all join the judging panel for this selection.

Kerry Fashion Weekend (KFW) is on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of April, 2010. It is produced by Upfront PR, Event & Model Management with Image Magazine as the official media partner and top Kerry hotels Aghadoe Heights Killarney & Ross Boutique Hotel as official venues.

The Kerry Fashion Designer Awards is part of the KFW and the deadline for entry is approaching. Last year’s winners included Matt Doody and Delphine Grandjouan. For an application form visit www.kerryfashion.eu.

The Irish interiors magazine, House & Home has created an IRISH HOT 100 list of people, places, products and talent you need to know about this year & beyond. The list is full of new faces & names including our very own Sabrina Meyns & Eily O’Connell at number 56 as part of the WORKHOUSE STUDIOS. These Studios were set up in Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford little over a year ago by Eily, Sabrina, Claire McAlister, Ann Nolan, Aisling Cook and Maggie Cashman. As the magazine puts it, “their output is edgy and design-led, and all six are aware that enthusiasm and fresh thinking can work wonders to invigorate their industry, both locally and internationally.”

Others who made the list and who are favourites of ours are Victoria Rothschild and her beautiful free blown glass lamps and the contemporary jewellery & homewares of Rachel McKnight. The full 100 can be seen in the latest edition of the magazine!
